About the Author

What kind of crazed fool writes a series like this in five years plus? Maybe this will help you.

I’m not used to writing about myself in the third person. So I won’t even try.

First of all, I’m just the chronicler. It’s not my story, it’s theirs; I just get to write about the world they inhabit. I’m divorced, and am currently living in Creswell, Oregon with my partner Traci. I’m currently working for the State of Oregon. I have three doctorates-a Dp.Th in Biblical Counseling, a D.Min in Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as an M.Div. A third doctorate-this one a Ph.D-is finally completed; I graduated having written the dissertation for it in the middle of writing what is now the first four volumes of this series. I’m a thirty-five year member of the Barbershop Harmony Society, and was able to go to Ireland in 1997 with the Northbrook, Il. New Tradition Chorus. That trip ignited an interest in my own background and history; I have British, Irish, Scottish, and Welsh in my family history-along with some Swedish. (In other words, I’m  a walking civil war.) In addition I was in marching band, concert choir and vocal ensemble in high school and concert choir, concert band, and chamber chorale in the community college I attended. I also spent time in both the Concord Blue Devils Drum and Bugle corps and the U.S. Navy.

My grandmother, Mary Ford, was also a writer. She wrote nine books for Avalon Press in the 1960’s and early 1970’s. My father also wrote a small tome on the odds of winning at gambling; he was self-published and sold a fair number of copies. I’d like to think they’d have loved the e-book market these days.
